If you intend to fish fast moving water, I always recommend neoprene waders. If you should slip and the water takes you away, relax and you will float like a cork. When you get to slow water, you will be able to get out, unlike other waders that will fill up and pull you under.
You should have wading shoes with a felt bottom. These prevent slipping on the bottom.
I also recommend a pair of polarized sunglasses and a hat.
