Insects that are commonly imitated in the Sierras

Above is a May fly nymph.
Use nymphs and dries in spring and early summer.


Below is the Midge fly.
This is a good fly all year long in rivers and streams.
Sizes from 20 to 26 are best.

Above is the Caddis fly.
The Caddis is one of the most popular flies in the Sierras.
The best patterns are, the Elk Hair Caddis and the Tent Wing Caddis fly.

Below is the Scud.
The scud is found in many streams, ponds and lakes.
